The Fleurie appellation is located in the middle of the Beaujolais region and wines are often described as feminine and floral. Though its name literally means "flowery", it has nothing to do with the local flora but with a Roman legionnaire named Fleurus who settled in the area. As for this wine, it has a powerful nose of flower (violet, peony), cherry, spice and leather. It's smooth on the palate with notes of fruit, pepper and a long fresh finish. Excellent match for a good sausage & mash!
